The new reminders UI in Cortana for iOS - Image Credit Warenotice
Cortana for iOS was updated to version 1.3.0 on Monday, less than two weeks after its initial stable release on iOS after a beta-testing period.
The updated Cortana includes a much-needed refresh to its reminder user interface. This is a very welcome improvement since Cortana for iOS’s reminder interface was a major setback to using the software when it was still in beta, as pointed out in our review video of the Cortana for iOS beta.
The new reminders section is bathed in a calming shade of black and is much sleeker than before. The colors of its “Delete” and “Complete” buttons that appear when swiping to the left on any reminder are now more subtle, in contrast to the obnoxious, strong colors that were used before. Creating a reminder is now more aesthetically appealing as well, although you are still limited to creating reminders without custom categorization or prioritization, in addition to the inability to add notes to reminders. However, Cortana is still able to create reminders that alert you at a particular time or location, which can still be helpful; just not as much.
Version 1.3.0 also contains a few other features, the most notable of which is the elimination of the restriction of either enabling Cortana to track your location at all times or never. Instead, there’s a third option now for Cortana to only use your location while in use.
