The Google search app on a home screen - Image Credit Warenotice
On Friday Google released version 11 of its search app for iOS, with new features to take advantage of both the iPhone 6s and iOS 9.
The new Google search utilizes 3D touch, Apple’s pressure sensitive technology available in the iPhone 6s. It does so by providing three Quick Actions to the user when the app’s home screen icon is deeply pressed. The available actions are initiating a search, voice search, and image search.
Another of the app’s new features is support for side-by-side multitasking on iPads running iOS 9 or later. This addition is great for when you’re in the middle of using an app and you need to do a quick Google search, but you don’t want to want to leave your current app.
Not only is version 11 of the iOS Google Search app more efficient since it allows you to jump right into a search from the home screen and use it side-by-side with another app, but it also has some new features for the holidays. It can display holiday hours and busiest times for different stores, ensuring you don’t accidently show up to a closed or very crowded store.
