On Monday Pebble released version 3.4 of the Pebble Time app for iOS, with support for replying to text messages, known as Text Reply, on the Pebble Time. This support, however, is not exactly full-featured, as there are certain requirements to use Text Reply for iOS, as well as missing features.
Text Reply only works with post-paid AT&T devices in the U.S. due to the fact that the texts are not actually sent through the user's iPhone, they're sent directly through the carrier. This means that the texts won't appear within the Messages app on the user's iPhone, but they will appear on the receiving user's device.
If your iPhone meets the aforementioned specifications, follow the below steps from Pebble to allow your Pebble Time to respond to texts:
Right now Text Reply for iOS is only in beta and Pebble says it is working to expand support for it to more carriers. Although Text Reply is still in its early stages, it makes the Pebble Time the only smartwatch that can respond to iPhone texts directly from the smartwatch, other than the Apple Watch. This is particularly exciting for Pebble, as it increases its smartwatches competitiveness with the most deeply integrated iOS compatible smartwatch, also known as the Apple Watch.
